Hurricane Preparedness

Hurricane Season in the Atlantic is from June 1st to November 30th. Preparation is the best protection against the dangers of hurricanes.

Federal Emergency Management Agency

Make sure your family has a plan in case of an emergency. Before an emergency happens, sit down together and decide how you will get in contact with each other, where you will go and what you will do in an emergency. Keep a copy of this plan in your emergency supply kit or another safe place where you can access it in the event of a disaster.

NOAA Extreme Weather Information Sheets

NOAA Extreme Weather Information Sheets are “one-stop” ready references containing phone numbers and Web site information residents can use during potentially life-threatening weather emergencies. You can download the latest PDF version of these information sheets from www.ncddc.noaa.gov/NEWIS.

NOAA Extreme Weather Information Sheets are also available as a free app compatible with Apple devices such as iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Search ‘NEWIS’ in the App Store.

The Severe Weather Awareness Guide contains valuable information on how you and your family can remain safe in an emergency. Students are encouraged to take steps now to prepare yourself, your family, and your pets in the event of an emergency.

The University of Florida has created a homeowners handbook that explains many ways homeowners can prepare for natural hazards.

Wolford Emergency Alert System (WEAS)

Wolford College may send out text message alerts to students, faculty, and staff in the event of an emergency. Please be sure your contact information on file with the school is kept up to date.
